Premier's Office Review of Metro Vancouver
UDI Lower Mainland submission to the Premier of British Columbia.
On December 17, Mayor Sim (Vancouver) and Mayor Locke (Surrey) called for an independent review of Metro Vancouver as the current approach to governance and infrastructure financing is undermining the delivery of housing. UDI urges the Province to commit to a review and repositioning Metro Vancouver's water and sewer functions as a professional utility.
The development sector is not approaching a slowdown. It is already underwater. Presales have collapsed, capital is retreating, and projects that were viable two years ago are no longer proceeding.
