These developments showcase innovative design, tenant mix, and placemaking strategies that create memorable experiences for tenants and visitors and contribute to the economic vitality of the surrounding area. Can include leased or strata commercial and retail development.

Ground Oriented Housing
Recognizing exemplary projects in Ground Oriented Housing including gentle density options such as duplexes and townhouses (including stacked townhouses), typically ranging from 2-3 storeys. Each home features individual exterior access, ensuring privacy and ease of entry.
To qualify for this category, a development must comprise a minimum of 10 homes. -

Celebrating multi-family residential strata projects up to 6 storey buildings that offer a harmonious blend of community living and modern comfort. These projects provide convenient access to amenities and boast shared spaces that enhance the quality of life for all.

Celebrating projects featuring extraordinary and innovative social, economic and environmental components that go above and beyond any requirements imposed by legislation. May include heritage restoration, creative housing model, construction methodology (e.g. pre-fabrication), smart home/office future proofing, parking infrastructure for EV/autonomous vehicles, unique materials, building for resilience etc.

This award honours multi-family residential projects designed in partnership with private and non-profit sectors, government health authorities, ministries and community groups that provide a residential assisted housing option for the social good.
May include low income and/or assisted housing, co-op housing, SRO, student housing, and other alternative housing forms. -

Seniors Housing / Healthcare
Celebrating outstanding achievements in a building or building complex intended for seniors and/or healthcare purposes with attention to safety, accessibility, socialization, comfort, personalization and a supportive environment.

- Peeter Wesik is the Chair of Wesgroup Properties, a family real estateĀ company, started over 50 years ago, with a diverse portfolio of commercial andĀ residential real estate located mainly in Greater Vancouver.Ā Peeter is also Chair of Wesgroup Equipment, a subsidiary of WesgroupĀ Properties, which is a fullāservice construction equipment and materialĀ handling distributor operating in 7 dealer locations throughout the Province of
British Columbia.Ā Peeter previously practiced law before becoming a full time business personĀ and is a director of the Royal BC Museum.

- DavidĀ Podmore of Concert Properties is honoured for hisĀ lifelong contribution to our industry andĀ the community in which we live. ForĀ over 40 years, he has been recognizedĀ as one of Vancouverās most influentialĀ contributors to the real estate industry.
David Podmoreās immense contributionsĀ to the community include hisĀ involvement with the BC Childrenās Hospital Foundation as immediateĀ past-chair, successfully bringing the Winter Olympics to Vancouver in 2010,Ā and Concert Propertiesā sponsorship of bursaries to help students in theĀ BCIT Trades Discovery programs. In total, the company has endowed overĀ $2.6 million to BCIT, and contributed over $3.3 million to trades trainingĀ programs across Canada overall.

- Michael Audain, whose contributions to British Columbia and Canada as a philanthropist, patron of the arts, and advocate for social justice have been well documented. The founder and chairman of Polygon Homes, Audainās commitment to excellence in the development industry has resulted in high standards for members of the Urban Development Institute, where he served as a director for many years and as president 1985-86. Michael Audain is one of our most outstanding British Columbians, committed to the economic and social wellbeing of the province.
- Victor Lewis, one of the founding fathers of UDI, was president of British American Construction Materials and then Genstar Development, and spearheaded some of the largest real estate development projects across Canada. A visionary whose passion for the development industry lasted a lifetime, he left a legacy of professionalism and the creation of sustainable cities. Victor passed away in February of this year at the age of 92.
- Jack Poole, co- founder of Daon Developments and Concert Properties, led Vancouver to the unqualified success of Vancouverās 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games ā and, regretfully, passed away shortly before the Games began, at the age of 76. As one newspaper put it: Jack Poole was a great Canadian, a great Westerner, a great Builder and great Human Being. And a worthy inaugural member of UDIās Hall of Fame.
The UDI 40th Anniversary Awards for Excellence Gala at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver was a spectacular evening that brought nearly 600 industry leaders together to celebrate the achievements shaping our communities. From heartfelt conversations to joyful toasts, the night was filled with connection, inspiration, and celebration.
