City of Abbotsford - Public Art Policy

At their meeting on December 16th, Council endorsed the proposed Public Art Policy and Program Review.Β

Community and Developer-Led Public ArtΒ

In addition to City commissioned public art projects, the new Policy also supports community and developer-led public art. Policy updates in this area include streamlined public art creation and implementation processes and increased opportunities for developer support of public art to include commissions, temporary public art and financial contributions to the City’s Public Art Reserve. The new Policy encompasses private-sector participation in the public art process in Part 4, with Section 13, Clause 4 noting that the private sector can submit their public art plan for City endorsement, alleviating the need for private property owners to adhere to the City's public art program.Β
