In March 2024, Metro Vancouver’s Board of Directors approved dramatic Development Cost Charge (DCC) increases. In October 2024, as part of UDI's ongoing advocacy since the increases were approved, UDI submitted a letter to the MV Board of Directors urging for a delay in the implementation of the upcoming DCC increases due to ongoing viability challenges faced by many projects. It is critical that the in-stream protection be extended for one year as soon as possible. As such, there is an urgent need to amend the Local Government Act and any supporting legislation, so the extended timeframes are in place before the current in-stream protection ends on March 21, 2025.
