Office of the Premier Bill 7 - Economic Stabilization (Tariff Response) Act
UDI Lower Mainland submission to the Office of the Premier, and the Attorney General.
While UDI acknowledges the need for British Columbia to respond to the economic risks posed by the ongoing trade dispute with the United States, we are deeply concerned by the unprecedented and undemocratic overreach proposed in Bill 7 – Economic Stabilization (Tariff Response) Act. UDI wrote the Premier and Attorney General, to join other business organizations in expressing our significant concerns. We have urged the Province to separate the internal trade provisions of Bill 7 from the rest of the bill. This would allow for swift passage of much-needed trade reforms, without forcing legislators to accept a deeply flawed and undemocratic expansion of executive power.
