UDI Lower Mainland submission to the Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs.

UDI has requested to meet with the Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs to follow up on key issues identified by the development industry, including:

• The collapse of the condominium presale market;
• Escalating development charges;
• Ongoing and frequent changes to building codes;
• The need to limit inclusionary zoning requirements;
• The importance of continued federal engagement through programs such as MLI Select and the Apartment Loan Program to ensure the delivery of new rental housing; and
• Pausing changes to the Heritage Conservation Act.

It now costs more to build than people can afford, and UDI looks forward to working with the Ministry to address these challenges.
