Township of Langley - Bus Rapid Transit Parking Reduction
Adopted
At their meeting on March 23rd, Council gave three readings and final adoption to the proposed amendments to the Zoning Bylaw in order to reduce the off-street parking for one-bedroom apartment dwelling units by 15 percent where the subject development is located within 200 metres of future Bus Rapid Transit station areas along the Langley–Haney Place BRT corridor.Â
At their meeting, Council approved the following amendments:Â
- That locations 1) and 11), 96 Avenue and 199A Street and 96 Avenue and 201 Street, respectively, indicated on Map Attachment A and listed under 2(4)(a), be removed, with all subsequent locations renumbered.Â
- That the distance of 200 meters indicated on Map Attachment A and outlined within 2(4)(a) be changed to 400 meters.Â

February 9th, 2026
As mentioned in previous updates, on February 9th Council approved the following motions related to the Township-wide Parking Study and Bylaw review.
Township-Wide Parking Study and Bylaw Review Motions
That Council direct Staff to report to Council with draft bylaw amendments to implement the 7 recommendations regarding Accessible Parking no later than the end of Q2, 2026.
That Council direct Staff to bring forward for Council approval the necessary bylaw changes in order to implement the recommendations regarding Loading Zone regulations no later than the end of Q2, 2026.
That Council direct Staff to bring forward necessary changes to the Zoning Bylaw and any other required changes in order to implement shared parking within mixed-use developments, no later than the end of Q2, 2026.
That Council hereby endorses a 15 percent reduction in the residential parking requirements for 1 bedroom apartment units within a 200-metre radius of future Bus Rapid Transit stations,
That Staff report to Council with draft Zoning Bylaw amendments regarding the potential parking reductions for Council consideration no later than the end of Q1, 2026, and;
That Council hereby direct Staff to initiate a petition of the Milner Heights neighbourhood regarding the concept of a Pilot Project for a resident-only, permit parking system, at no cost to the resident, with the petition completed no later than the end of Q2, 2026.
