At their Public Hearing on May 13th, Council gave third and final reading to exemptions to the Family Friendly Units Policy, reducing the two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and overall average project unit size requirements for purpose-built rental projects. The exemptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

May 7th, 2024

At their meeting on April 29th, Council gave first and second reading to exemptions to the Family Friendly Units Policy to incentivize the development of market and non-market housing. The Bylaw proposes the following: 

• Reduced two-bedroom and three-bedroom requirements for purpose built rental housing projects. 
• Reduced overall average project unit size for purpose built rental housing projects.   

The proposed exemptions would be considered on a case by-case basis as deemed appropriate.
