Provincial - Standardized Housing Designs

On September 4th, the Ministry of Housing announced that they were releasing free standardized designs for small-scale, multi-unit housing projects. The design files include “… concepts for duplex, triplex, quadplex and townhouse designs,” as well as accessory dwelling units.  All the designs comply with the BC Building Code.

The Ministry notes that “Most of the designs are based on ‘building blocks’ that can be mixed and matched, to add features such as a garage or bedrooms, and stacked up to three storeys high.” They also include several types of roofs and exterior finishes, and the designs “… can be customized for different lot sizes and configurations …”.
