On March 19th, UDI attended the Province’s virtual demonstration of the Interactive BC Building Code Sprint, showcasing ongoing efforts to modernize how building code requirements are accessed and applied. The initiative is focused on developing a more user-friendly, digital interface for the BC Building Code, with the goal of improving navigation, searchability, and overall usability for industry professionals. 

The demo highlighted early-stage features that aim to streamline how users interpret and work with code provisions, including enhanced search functions, clearer organization of content, and potential integration of guidance materials. These improvements are intended to reduce ambiguity, support more consistent application of the Code, and improve efficiency in project design and review processes. 

UDI will continue to monitor the development of this tool and engage with the Province to ensure it reflects industry needs, particularly with respect to clarity, functionality, and alignment with permitting processes.
