Metro Vancouver - 2026 Garbage and Recycling Fees

On October 31, 2025 the GVS&DD Board approved changes to garbage and recycling fees at Metro Vancouver solid waste facilities effective January 1, 2026, as outlined in the table below.

Garbage tipping fees will increase by $7 per tonne or between 4.0% and 5.5% depending on the load weight. The fees for yard trimmings and clean wood will increase to $124 per tonne (from $118). The fee for mixed organics will increase to $150 per tonne (from $143). Mattresses/box springs will increase to $20 per unit (from $15).

The surcharge for loads containing banned product stewardship and hazardous/operational impact materials will increase to $80 per load (from $76). Full details on banned materials are available on the Metro Vancouver website.

The generator levy, incorporated into tipping fees at Metro Vancouver and City of Vancouver solid waste facilities, will increase to $70 per tonne (from $67). More information on the generator levy is available on Metro Vancouver’s website.
