On April 4th, 2024, the Federal Government announced that it would be creating a Canada-wide Rental Protection Fund to support non-profits housing providers in acquiring existing rental buildings. 

The program will be comprised of $1 billion in loans and another $470 million in contributions to non-profit organizations and their partners. The program will be co-led and co-funded through a partnership model with the Federal Government.
