On December 12th, 2023, the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, announced the Federal Government’s plan to create a catalogue of standardized housing designs and launch consultations with partners.  

The intent of the housing design catalogue initiative is to get homes built faster, more efficiently, and more affordably in Canada. By providing standardized housing designs, it is expected to reduce the time required for design, approvals, and construction while supporting new and innovative construction methods.

The Federal Government is collecting industry feedback on the consultation paper and discussion questions. If you have any feedback, please email your comments to catalogue@infc.gc.ca by March 15th, 2024.
