Federal - Foreign Buyer Ban

Extended to 2027

February 13th, 2024


On February 4th, 2024, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance announced that the Government would extend the ban on foreign purchase of housing in Canada by two years. The prohibition, which was set to expire on January 1st, 2025, will now be extended to January 1st, 2027. Aside from the timeline, no other changes to the ban were announced.
