Federal - Federal Government Moving Forward with 30-year Mortgages

On June 11, 2024, the Department of Finance announced that 30-year mortgages would be allowed for first-time home buyers purchasing newly constructed homes starting August 1, 2024, under the Canadian Mortgage Charter. The Department also released a Technical Backgrounder outlining the eligibility criteria.
