District of Squamish - ZCSC Implementation/ESC Relaxation

On June 18th, Council gave three readings to an amendment bylaw proposing incorporating Zero Carbon Step Code (ZCSC) Level 4 into the building bylaw for all building types, replacing the Low Carbon Incentive Program contained in the Zoning Bylaw. The report also proposes expanding the existing relaxation of the Energy Step Code (ESC) by one step to all buildings that are not single-detached homes for two years. 

The proposed changes are outlined in this table: 

UDI has submitted correspondence to the District, supporting the one-step relaxation for ESC for more building types and encouraging discussions with BC Hydro regarding the move towards full building electrification.
