District of Squamish - Steep Slopes Development Area

At Committee of the Whole, Council endorsed a proposed approach and engagement plan regarding the development of a Steep Slopes Development Permit Area (DPA). This will build on the Official Community Plan (OCP) which includes policy to address hazard lands, including steep slopes.  

The DPA will be required for various developments including:  

  • Land alteration; 
  • Disturbance of soils; 
  • Disruption or destruction of vegetation; 
  • Subdivision; or 
  • Construction of buildings and structures.
