District of Squamish - Land Development Procedures Bylaw

Third Reading

April 27, 2026

As mentioned in previous updates on April 10, Council gave three readings to the proposed Land Development Procedures Bylaw amendments. The proposed updates are as follows:

  • Development permit delegation criteria:
    • Increase the delegation of Form and Character DP residential applications from 20 to 50 units;
    • Remove the cap completely for commercial/industrial use (currently 400 m2);
  • Public consultation for rezoning apps - clarifying the engagement period for development applications;
  • Hearings for DVP and TUP apps - Council retains the ability to call a hearing if they feel it is warranted, particularly for controversial applications; and
  • Updating the acceptable security types to include on-demand surety bonds for servicing agreements.
