As mentioned in previous updates, on January 27th, Council adopted the proposed amendments to the District’s Zoning Bylaw to enable EV ready parking spaces in 100% of residential parking spaces, and 45% in non-residential parking spaces. All parking spaces designated for car share vehicles shall include both an Energized Outlet and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment. 

The bylaw will take effect on July 1, 2025. Projects that submit complete Building Permits with applicable fees prior to July 1, 2025, would not be required to comply with the amended bylaw.

At their meeting on December 9th, Council gave three readings to the proposed amendments to the District’s Zoning Bylaw to enable EV ready parking spaces in 100% of residential parking spaces, and 45% in non-residential parking spaces. All parking spaces designated for car sharing would have an installed and operating EV charger.  

The report indicates that the target date for the amendments to take effect is July 1, 2025. Projects that submit complete Building Permits with applicable fees prior to July 1, 2025, would not be required to comply with the amended bylaw.

October 10, 2024 

The District of North Vancouver is proposing to formalize and update the existing Electric Vehicle readiness (EV-Ready) policy for new construction through an amendment to the District’s Zoning Bylaw. The goal of this update is to align with best practices in the region and to achieve greater consistency with existing requirements in neighbouring jurisdictions such as the City of North Vancouver and the City of Vancouver.
