At their meeting on June 27th, Council adopted the proposed Zoning Bylaw amendments to align with Bill 44, Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing (SSMUH), Provincial mandates. Mayor Knight called for a re-vote on June 27th after the Zoning Bylaw amendments, initially brought to the Council on June 24th for third reading and final adoption, were defeated in a split vote.  

The Zoning Bylaw amendments allow for SSMUH on lots previously designated for single-family and duplex homes. Depending on lot size and proximity to bus stops, configurations can include: 

• At least three units on lots up to 280m² (3,014 ft²) 
• At least four units on lots over 280m² 
• At least six units on lots over 281m² within 400m of a bus stop   

The legislation also prohibits the City from requiring off-street parking for these lots, except for accessible parking spaces.
