District of West Vancouver - Provincial Housing Legislation - Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing
Adopted
As mentioned in previous updates, on August 12th, Council gave first, second, third reading and adoption to the proposed Zoning Bylaw amendments to align with Bill 44, Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing (SSMUH), Provincial mandates.Â
After defeating the motion on May 27th, the District of West Vancouver received a ministerial notice of non-compliance with the Provincial requirements for SSMUH on July 25th, 2024. The notice required the District to amend its zoning bylaw in accordance with the directives provided, with a deadline of 30 days from the receipt of the notice (August 24th, 2024).Â

June 6th, 2024
At their meeting on May 29th, Council defeated the proposed Bylaw that addresses Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing in alignment with provincial legislation that was up for three readings and adoption. Â
Council gave no indication of a proposal to revisit the bylaw at a later date, apply for an extension to the June 30th deadline, or to discuss their concerns with the Provincial Government. Â
