At their meeting on July 22nd, Council received a presentation on the city’s next climate action plans as both the Climate Emergency Action Plan (CEAP) and the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (CCAS) sunset in 2025. The report was approved by Council with staff expecting to report back with proposed plans for Council approval by Q3 2025. In addition, an amendment was brought forward to allow natural gas for heating and hot water for new construction, including homes that fall within the Missing Middle Housing Framework. The motion was approved by Council, and the necessary amendments for Council consideration are expected on or before November 1, 2024.
