At Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities on May 21st, Council directed staff to report back in Fall 2025 on opportunities to implement strategies to reduce demolition waste in Vancouver. Given the Council’s priority to streamline development and permitting approvals to expedite new housing, Council affirms that any future updates regarding this, outside of educational opportunities, will be considered at a future date as to not extend timelines for delivering new homes.
