City of Vancouver - Realizing the Full Potential of Exceptional Lands in Vancouver Motion
At Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities on July 23rd, Council directed staff to report back by October 31st, 2025, with site-specific analysis and policy recommendations for five key sites: the former Molson site, Main & Terminal industrial lands, Railtown, Marine Gateway, and Mount Pleasant industrial area. Staff are to continue processing development applications for these sites without delay.Â
The analysis will assess how each site aligns with goals from the Industrial Modernization Framework, Vancouver Plan, and other strategies, and explore future land use options that balance employment, housing, and amenities. Staff will also evaluate each site's proximity to transit and potential for job space intensification. This work will inform possible removals from the Industrial Land Reserve and contribute to a broader review of industrial land supply and policy modernization.Â
