City of Vancouver - Fire Bylaw

At Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities on July 9th, Council approved updates in principle to the Fire Bylaw. The proposed Fire By-law is updated to incorporate changes and revisions from the 2024 British Columbia Fire Code.

Additionally, a proposed new requirement in the Fire Bylaw is for certain service rooms and exit stairs to be provided with permanent signs installed that identify their use and designations on the fire safety plan of the building, and which align with the fire alarm annunciator to facilitate firefighting operations.

More information can be found in the full report by City staff.
