As mentioned in previous updates, on July 28th Council gave final adoption to the proposed amendments to the Surrey Building Bylaw in order to improve permit processing timelines, enhance applicant clarity, and establish a pathway for standardized improvements across all building permits.

At their meeting on March 10th, Council endorsed the implementation of a modernized tenant improvement building permit process, including the Minor Tenant Improvement Program. 

To simplify and streamline the approval process for tenant improvements, staff are proposing to:  

• Modernize the approval process for all tenant improvement building permits (dedicated review teams, simplified applications requirements, parallel review, digital reviews); and  
• Implement a Minor Tenant Improvement Program, with a targeted turn around of 2-3 business days.
