At their regular meeting on October 20th, Council gave first and second reading to the proposed amendments to Surrey Zoning Bylaw Off-Street Parking Requirements. Based on the findings of recent parking studies, staff recommend revising the Zoning Bylaw parking requirements for industrial, self-storage, and eating establishment uses in order to maximize on-site efficiencies and streamline the development process, while adequately supporting on-site parking demand needs.Â
Summary of Proposed Amendments to Zoning Bylaw: Â
- Revise the off-street parking requirement for industrial uses to a rate of 1.0 parking spaces/ 100 sq.m. for sites with less than 7,000 sq.m. gross floor area and 0.6 parking spaces/100 sq.m. for sites with 7,000 sq.m. gross floor area or greater; Â
- Revise the off-street parking requirement for self-storage uses to 0.1 parking spaces/100 sq.m. or a minimum of 3.0 parking spaces, whichever is greater; and Â
- Revise the off-street parking requirement for eating establishment uses within Transit Oriented Areas to 3.0 parking spaces/100 sq.m.’Â
