City of Surrey - Housing Accelerator Fund Development Incentives
At their meeting on April 8, Surrey Council approved two development incentives utilizing the Housing Accelerator Fund grant.Â
Rapid Transit Development IncentiveÂ
- 50% rebate on application fees, paid after December 4, 2023, for projects within 1.5 km of existing SkyTrain stations and Rapid Bus corridors (R1 and R6 Lines):Â
- Planning: Rezoning, development permit, development variance permitÂ
- Engineering: Servicing agreement processing, administration, ESC applicationÂ
- Building: Building permit fees.Â
- To be eligible for this incentive, a project must receive full superstructure building permit issuance by August 31, 2026. Â
Non-Market Rental Housing Development IncentiveÂ
- Exemptions on DCCs and CACs.Â
- 50% rebate on application fees, paid after December 4, 2023:Â
- Planning: Rezoning, development permit, development variance permitÂ
- Engineering: Servicing agreement processing, administration, ESC applicationÂ
- Building: Building permit fees. Â
- An eligible development must be operated by public housing bodies prescribed in the Residential Tenancy Act and Regulations are subject to a legal agreement securing rental tenure for a minimum period of 60-years, as accepted by the City, and is either:Â
- Wholly owned and operated by a public housing body; or Â
- Operated by a public housing body, pursuant to a legal agreement with the property owner. Â
