City of Port Moody - Moody Centre Spring Street Streetscape Design Guidelines
At City Initiatives and Planning Committee on March 18th, Council received a report for information on the Moody Centre Spring Street Streetscape Design Guidelines. The report discussed notable approaches for addressing various items, notably:Â
Relating to sidewalk widths, Council suggested converting Spring Street to a one-way traffic lane alignment. This was reviewed with a number of concerns identified:Â
- Limited maneuverability for fire operations;Â
- Limited travel routes for residents, increasing congestion;Â
- Excessive queuing/wait times from a one-way street system;Â
During the meeting, a motion arising was passed to have staff report back on possible adjustments to building setback requirements from Spring Street to allow for sufficient space for unimpeded two-way pedestrian movement and, at the same time, revisit the one-way traffic lane option of the report. Â
