City of Port Coquitlam - Integrated Watershed Management Plan
Adopted
At Committee of Council on February 25th, Council adopted the final report on the Integrated Watershed Management Plan (IWMP). The Plan intends to preserve aquatic/riparian habitats, minimize the impact of development and flooding risk, and recommend practical and effective improvements for watershed health.ย
As noted in the report, the South Port Coquitlam IWMP notably provides recommendations for:ย
- Storm main and culvert upgrades;ย
- Ditch maintenance;ย
- Pump station decommissioning and upgrades;ย
- Environmental enhancement:ย
- Conveyance and fish passage;ย
- In-stream enhancements;ย
- Riparian areas and habitat corridors;ย
- Water quality;ย
- Fish sampling;ย
- Education and outreach;ย
- Development impact mitigation:ย
- Streamside protection (setbacks);ย
- Tree retention;ย
- Stormwater source controlsย
- Monitoring and adaptive management.ย
