City of New Westminster - Riparian Areas Protection Amendment Bylaw

Adopted

May 21st, 2024

As mentioned in previous updates, on May 6th, Council adopted the Riparian Areas Protection Amendment Bylaw intending to align the City’s bylaw with the various amendments made to provincial standards over the past 19 years.

The proposed amendments to the City’s Riparian Areas Protection Bylaw will align with the Provincial RAPR and allow the City to issue fines as a penalty for bylaw contraventions. The changes are intended to provide improved protection to the natural environment near streams that support fish life processes during land development and construction activities.
