At their meeting on August 25th, Council received the Year 1 Housing Target Progress Report for information. The report provides progress information relating to the City of New Westminster’s Housing Target Order, covering the period from August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025 as required under the Housing Supply Act.  

The Year One housing target for New Westminster is 656 new units. During the Year One reporting period, there have been 1,175 net new housing units completed in the city. This exceeds the Year One target by 519 units.

March 18, 2025

At their meeting on March 10th, Council received the Housing Target Progress Report for information. The report provides progress information relating to the City of New Westminster’s Housing Target Order, covering the period from August 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025, as required under the Housing Supply Act. During the reporting period, the City granted occupancy to a total of 702 net new units exceeding the year one target of 656 units by 46 units within the first six months.  

Additionally, Council voted in favour of a motion to write to the Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs, recommending that a target for new infrastructure development be accompanied along with the housing target.
