City of Maple Ridge - Tree Protection & Management Bylaw Update

Adopted

At their meeting on May 12th, Council gave final adoption to the Tree Protection & Management Bylaw.ย

Key changes include:

  • Introduction of a distinction between single tree removals (residential) and development-related removals, with different requirements and processes applied to eachย
  • Lower threshold for Tree Management Plans (10+ trees, down from 20)ย
  • Increased replacement tree requirements aligned with the 40% canopy targetย
  • Updated fee structure that removes incentives for multi-tree removalsย
  • Cash in Lieu option only available if the City determines it is not feasible to plant replacement trees.
