City of Maple Ridge - Family-Friendly Housing Policy
At their meeting on April 22nd, Council referred the proposed Family-Friendly Housing Policy back to staff to review the minimum requirements surrounding three bedrooms and explore potential incentive programs. ย
The Policy proposes new unit-mix requirements in apartment residential and mixed-use residential developments with over 10 dwelling units, where:ย
- A minimum of 40% of total units are required to be two-bedroom units or larger, andย
- A minimum of 10% of total units are required to be three-bedroom units or larger.ย
All dwelling units in these developments would also have to be at least 33 m2 (355 sq.ft.) in area to ensure livability, and to safeguard against studio unit sizes from becoming smaller to compensate for the additional larger units.ย
