City of Maple Ridge - Amenity Cost Charge Bylaw

 As mentioned in previous updates, on July 28th Council gave final adoption to the proposed  Amenity Cost Charges Bylaw.

July 27, 2026

As mentioned in previous updates, on July 21st Council gave third reading to the proposed Amenity Cost Charges Bylaw as amended. Based on the addition of the three new recreation projects, the proposed ACC rates have increased since first reading of the ACC Bylaw. Recognizing the current challenging housing market conditions and the new development related charges that are being proposed with the new bylaw, a phased-in implementation approach is recommended by staff. The phased implementation is intended to support a gradual transition toward the full ACC rate structure over time. 

The proposed draft rates are highlighted in the table below.

June 1, 2026

At their regular meeting on May 25th, Council gave first reading to the proposed Amenity Cost Charge (ACC) Bylaw and directed staff to proceed with consultation with key interest holders and the public.

March 24, 2026

At their Workshop on March 10th, Council received a report for information on the Amenity Cost Charge framework project and the work underway to develop an ACC program and bylaw. Staff are advancing the ACC technical study and draft bylaw, with the support of Watson & Associates, with the objective of completing the work by the Summer of 2026. After which, the results of the technical analysis, engagement, and draft program and bylaw will be presented to Council for consideration and direction.
