As mentioned in previous updates, on July 8th, Council adopted the final recommended Development Cost Charge (DCC) rates. The new rates are now in effect, with legislation including a one-year in-stream protection period starting from the date of adoption of the new DCC Bylaw (July 8th, 2024). 

As displayed in this table, the new DCC rates are marginally lower than the rates previously proposed in July 2023.

April 23rd, 2024 

At their meeting on April 8th, Council gave first, second, and third readings to the new Development Cost Charge (DCC) Bylaw. The proposed Bylaw will now be forwarded to the Inspector of Municipalities for review and approval. City staff anticipate a 3-to 4-month approval process from the province, with the Bylaw expected to be adopted by September 2024.
