City of Delta - Housing Target Progress Report

At their regular meeting on October 21st, Council reviewed the Housing Target Progress Report and directed staff to forward the report to the BC Ministry of Housing, as required by the Provincial Housing Supply Act. In October 2023, the Province issued a Ministerial Order requiring the City of Delta to meet a five-year target of 3,607 net new housing units to be completed starting October 1, 2023. This target represents 75 percent of Delta’s estimated five-year housing need and requires the City to report annually on its progress via Council resolution. This report covers the first full reporting period with an assigned target, detailing housing data from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024. Delta has surpassed the first required target by achieving 561 net new housing units between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024.Β
