City of Coquitlam - Interim OCP

Engagement Opportunity

The City of Coquitlam is inviting Community Partners to share feedback on the City’s draft Interim Official Community Plan (OCP).

The OCP Review Project includes four parts:

  1. Streamlining and Policy Clean-up
  2. Legislated Updates
  3. City-Led Project Updates
  4. Other Process and Operational Updates

Coquitlam is streamlining its Official Community Plan (OCP) to make it easier for the public, staff, and developers to use and understand, as well as support alignment with the new provincial housing legislation. This project focuses on a restructure, consolidation, and reformat of the OCP, and does not identify new areas for growth or create new policy direction, unless required or necessitated by the provincial housing legislation.

Please visit:  letstalkcoquitlam.ca/OfficialCommunityPlan for additional information, including the draft Interim OCP and share your feedback by December 3, 2025.

Please let the City know if you would like more information or to arrange a meeting with City Staff. Please contact them at OCP@coquitlam.ca and let them know which specific topics you would like to discuss.

At the Strategic Priorities Standing Committee on October 1, Council received a report for information on the Interim Official Community Plan (OCP) Update. As noted in the report, the update does not intend to focus on updating planning or land use management policies, but instead, address the complexity and size of the existing OCP.

The report outlined a comparison of the existing OCP to the “streamlined” OCP:

City staff intend to bring the fully designed interim OCP document to Council in Q1/Q2 of 2026. More information can be found in the full report by City staff.
