On June 9th, Council gave three readings to a report outlining expanded works and services authorities, including the role of “Servicing Officer”. Under Bill 16, municipalities are granted the ability to require additional items at the Building Permit stage. As such, the report proposes expanding the definition for works and services to include amenities, transportation infrastructure, and sustainable design features, as authorized by the Local Government Act. The report also designates servicing officers, who can require, as a condition of Building Permit issuance, road dedication for vehicular and active transportation.
