At their regular meeting on January 14th, Council approved the proposed Streetscape Improvements Program Policy. The policy provides the owner/developer the option of forfeiting pre-determined construction costs of road frontage improvements to the City at the time of new development as opposed to constructing the physical works. This approach will allow the City to use the funds collected to construct road upgrades of a larger scope ("block-to-block") instead of having improvements constructed independently for each project that do not share any connectivity. By using this policy, the City can ensure improved equality amongst development projects whilst providing new project alternatives to developers.
