On August 26th, Council authorized staff to bring forward amendment bylaws to implement updated fees and charges for 2025. Staff proposed the City to maintain the March benchmark general rate adjustment for 2025 of 3.45% (compared to the current CPI of 3.43%). These changes will be effective on January 1st, 2025. Β

The consolidated amendments outlined predominantly inflation-driven updates, with some newly introduced fees and streamlining measures. Notable changes include:Β

  • Aligning the Board of Variance (BOV) fee with those of the Development Variance Permit application to recoup the under-recovered costs associated with the processing of BOV applications;Β
  • Introduction of a new Beta Pump Station Recovery Fee to recover the remaining cost of the pump station that will benefit future buildings within the catchment area that have not paid the Future Infrastructure Charge for the other pump stations as part of a rezoning application;Β
  • Small reduction to the minimum charge for Cross Connection Devices to minimize the impact upon high-rise units and variances to revenue projections; andΒ
  • Removing the fee associated with Temporary COVID-19 pandemic reopening measures.Β
